We would like to gather a lineup of presenters who are ready to share ideas, tools, and strategies that open new possibilities for teaching, learning, and supporting our staff and students. This is not a traditional conference - we’re aiming for conversations and takeaways you can use the very next day.
We’re especially interested in sessions led by people doing the work: technology directors, sysadmins, technicians, data and SIS leads, instructional technology staff, and trusted partners who work closely with school teams.
Sessions should focus on:
How something was actually implemented
Lessons learned (including what didn’t go as planned)
Processes, workflows, tools, and decision-making
Honest discussion—not polished sales pitches or high-level theory
45 minute sessions that allow for approximately 10 minutes of Q&A.
We welcome a variety of session styles. If your idea fits one of the formats below, you’re likely a great match for Open Tabs.
Facilitated conversations focused on a specific tool, platform, or challenge, where participants can share experiences, ask questions, and compare approaches.
Example topics:
Managing and tuning Linewize (or other filtering tools) in real school environments
Managing app sprawl and approval workflows
Responding to cybersecurity incidents in K-12 settings
Short, focused presentations that walk attendees through how your district approached a real problem or initiative.
Example topics:
Documenting and visualizing your district’s digital ecosystem
Building a repeatable app-vetting or vendor review process
Improving onboarding/offboarding workflows for staff and students
Simplifying state or internal data reporting processes
Collaborative sessions where a school district and vendor present together, with the district leading the story and the vendor providing context and technical detail. These sessions should focus on implementation, integration, and outcomes, not product demos.
Example topics:
How our district implemented ClassLink (what worked, what didn’t, and what we’d change)
Rolling out a new SIS, IAM, or device management platform
Integrating multiple tools into a coherent ecosystem
Sessions should be useful, honest, and approachable
You don’t need to be a professional presenter—real experience matters more than polished slides
Vendor involvement is welcome when paired with a district voice
Sales pitches and purely promotional sessions will not be accepted
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish someone had explained this to me before we did it,” that’s probably a great Open Tabs session.
