Parking at the AIU

Visitors can feel free to park in the lot of over 200 spaces that surrounds the AIU. While parking is never an issue, you can also park in any of the available spaces in the Waterfront shopping area.

When arriving at the IU

The AIU is open from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. You will need to buzz at the main entry to be admitted to the building. Upon entry, you will be required to check-in and wear a provided nametag throughout the tenure of the event.

Directions to Allegheny Intermediate Unit

The AIU is located just outside of the Pittsburgh City limits less than 20 minutes from the heart of downtown. Whether traveling from the North (I-79), South (I-79), East (I-76) or West you will want to navigate to I-376 E and take the Squirrel Hill/Homestead exit. The drive to AIU is less than 10 minutes on local roads from the exit and is in the Waterfront, a popular shopping and dining area along the river. The AIU offices are on the eastern side of the Waterfront property adjacent to the Great Allegheny Passage walking trail and Monongahela River and opposing the shopping plaza.

From Pittsburgh International Airport: Your journey will take 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Travel onto I-376 E from the airport, as you head east, you will pass by downtown Pittsburgh, offering a perfect glimpse of the city's beautiful skylines.

From Allegheny County Airport: The drive is straightforward, taking 15-20 minutes. The route will take you through suburban areas before joining the main routes leading directly to the Waterfront.
